"Scan and Fix Problems" message

    "Scan and Fix Problems" message


    Hi all.

    When i'm pluging external HDD to my PC with Win7 on it, I get the message:
    "Scan and Fix Problems".
    What is this, and if i'm chossing this option is there any chance that the data on the HDD will be erease?

    Hi potassium and welcome to SevenForums...

    Your data will be fine ... Let the scan run and repair the errors, or you can run chkdsk /r from an elevated command prompt...

    And if u keep getting this error after you've done the check a few times, then there's USB problem. I had that problem and it was so annoying.

    Are You talking about this?? (in pic)
    Every time when connecting a phone nokia or s.ericsson i data storage mode I get this message.
    When connecting a kingston dt its ok no message.
    Is it safe to "Scan and fix" or turn of this message somehow?
