    SSD Setup

Following on from this thread: Installing W7 on new SSD

    Bought a 80GB intel SSD. Intel X25-M

Is there anything I need to install like new firmware somehow? And I hear a lot about this TRIM and how it works with W7 but not quite sure about that.

    I think that's it.

    Ty :)

    oli356,
Do you plan a clean install or are you coping an image of your current drive? If a clean install which is what I suggest than load away, no trim needed.

Thanks for replies. I've never even looked at these image things. So will just do a new install. Only pain in the back side is installing drivers, not to many apps.

Aria Forums - View Single Post - SSD Installation / Settings just found that as well on a forum I go on regularly

Alot of information in SSD Tweaks and Optimizations in Windows 7
Though it seems like it's all about if Windows is already on the SSD

Windows seven will take care of a good number of the drivers and then you can go through key components to grab latest drivers off the manufacturers support website if needed. This process is not to be rushed but really should go quickly without tons of applications as you mentioned. W7 will walk you right through it and that's the key. Once loaded completely is when the fun starts as it's as if Santa has brought you a new more powerful computer while you slept.

When you get your Intel SSD it should have a CD with setup software including a transfer program and the tool box program. just follow the instructions and you will be fine. Worked for me.
