    Anti static mat


    i wasnt sure where exactly to post this but one little question...

    Bought a mat and plug, but it cord seems to be different at both ends..



    Will this work..?


    Or do I need something like this

    yes i have bust pc before.., lost confidence to touch pc by doing regular touching tap or psu thing..., after all being 17 and only earning less than what a corsair obsidian costs per month, cant afford fry anything. probably a newbie question, but kind with kind heart at oc net will help me i belive.

    I just use an anti-static wrist strap. It fits around your wrist like a watchband and has an alligator clip on the other end, which you attach to an unpainted metal surface on the PC.

    I don't use a mat. I set the equipment on a wood table top or sometimes on cardboard.

    I will admit that I don't always use it.

    Yes that will work, it doesn't matter which way you connect it. Just don't cut an end off and try to shorten the cable. There is a resistor molded into one of the ends that needs to be there for safety reasons.

    Mats don't hurt a thing, but yes a wrist strap is best.

    I'm an electronic technician by trade. Any time we worked on sensitive electronic gear on a work bench we used both. In the field we always had a wrist strap in our tool kit and were expected to use it.
