Backups
For several years I have used a Mesh computer with Windows XP.
Softwarewise I have used Office 2003 and Corel Draw 12.
I have always used an Iomega external hard drive for backing things up with the Iomega software backign up every time I saved something.
Recently I moved on to a new computer with Windows 7. I moved the old Iomega drive over and transferred all files from it onto the new internal hard drive.
The old Iomega software which was 32-bit will not load into the new computer so I decided to just use the Windows backup system and do it once a day.
Within the main folder there are several sub-folders with these containing files that been created using either Word or Excel from Office 2003 and Corel Draw 12. (Not mixed in yhe same file) When backed up I find all files fine except the one with the Corel Draw 12 data. That just stores as a series of letters and numbers.
I have also tried backing up to a memory stick and get the same result.
However. I can drag the Corel Draw 12 file into either the Iomege drive or the memory stick and then all is well.
What is wrong or is there a better way of backing things up these days.
Thannks,
Allen
