    Dual monitor question

    Hi all,

I have a Dell 23" monitor running at 1920x1200 currently and I wish to add a second monitor. Due to space restrictions it won't be a 23" and will likely be a 19" that can support up to 1366x768.

Having not used dual monitors before on a PC, is it possible to have both monitors running at different resolutions? I want to play games on my 23" and be able to surf the internet or possibly watch Blu Ray/DVD's on the other. Is this possible?

Should I get any other software? I am running Windows 7 64 bit ultimate.

Your thoughts and experience on this would be most valuable.

    Yes you can.

I use a primary 24" monitor @ 1920x1080 and a secondary 19" monitor @ 1440x900 with ATI 5770 cards. Used to do it with two 4770 cards. It also worked.

What you will notice is that when a game starts in full window with a resolution less than the 1920x1080, the Icons and resolution on the secondary monitor are pushed to the right and/or the resolution is changed until you set the video options on the game to 1920x1080. Games that run at less than 1920x1080 will keep the secondary monitor screen messed up until you exit the game. Then everything will look normal.

The ATI (now AMD) Catalyst Control Center will come in very handy to re-set everything back as you like if a game forces a CPU crash before resolutions are set back to normal. Use a saved preset option.

    Enjoy!

hi and welcome to the forums :)

you have made a good choice to run duel monitors you are in for a good experience and benefit from lots of extra things you will be able to do. I always suggest using a third party software program which is designed for duel monitors and the program is display fusion
