Windows 7: DVD Drive not on list

DVD Drive not on list

My DVD drive works well; it appears on Device Manager
which says it is working properly.

It does not appear on the "Devices and Printers" list.

I think it is for this reason my JASC photo software can't find it to make a video slide show.

Any ideas?

That's normal. It only shows "peripheral" or external devices, plus the computer itself. If you right-click the computer icon in there and choose "Properties" all the internal stuff (including the CD/DVD drive) will be listed.

A CD/DVD drive would only have it's own icon in there if it was an external model.

Problem: I was trying to make a (standard Windows 7) backup, but the backup drive Y: was not shown in the list of drives available for backup. Note: The drive Y: was shown in Explorer! Analysis: I think the cause of the problem should be found in the fact that drive Y has the attribute...
