    Synaptics Touchpad Missing for VAIO

    Fixed! See Below Post
    Laptop: Sony VGN-SR190E
OS: Windows 7 (64 Bit) (upgrade from Vista)
Problem: Synaptics Pointing Device (driver) - Gone

My touchpad is way too sensitive and driving me crazy. In Vista, there was a Synaptics Pointing Device utility that would enable adjustments to the touchpad.

In the Sony drivers section (Windows 7, 64 bit) for my laptop the Synaptics driver is no longer there. The Sony Forum is giving me no help/reply to this question.

Anyone here have any ideas of where I could get a suitable driver or another method of adjusting the touchpad?

    I Appreciate any help,

    Phil

OG! (or is it Theo G?) You are the man!

I went to the site you suggested and searched and searched and found it in the "Pointing Synaptics" section of drivers. I guess this is an unofficial pre-release version but it seems to work fine. I couldn't find my exact Model (VGN-SR190E) in the list, but some of the model nos. were close so I went for it (created restore point first, of course).

The Setup file, in case anyone wants to know is: EP0000155249 ver. 11.1.8.0
In Device Driver it replaced the Mouse driver with: Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad

To use, open up Mouse in Control Panel (Properties window says [Evaluation Copy]) and you will see the Synaptics tab. There you can make all sorts of adjustments to the touchpad. The 2 important ones for me are the Sensitivity and Palm Check settings. Now my cursor doesn't jump all over the screen!

My Laptop is now useable once again!

    Mucho Thanks!
