Sorry to revive the thread, but what is CAS Latency?
Are lower values better?
The lower, the better. Unfortunately it increases as the timings get shorter. 4 is a good value. CAS latency - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hey guys, could you help me find a good ram for me?
I want one with low latency, high speed and 2x 4GB. Preferably higher than 2000 MHz.
I don't like G Skill, i like OCZ and Corsair.
I've been very happy with my G.Skill RAM. Used it for 3 of my last builds. All been solid. Oh year, OCZ is getting out the RAM market altogether to focus on SSD's. So, I would focus on Corsair in your search.
If you want 2000Mhz or faster and you want at least 4GB DDR3 chips..you are looking at a CAS Latency of 9. Those are the only options I can find at NewEgg.
I suppose it does come down to preference, but in regards to G-Skill memory, all of them I have purchaces have been just fine.
As well as good customer support.
Personally, I really like them and it's now one of the first brands I look for, just due to past experiences with them.
Yeah, when I built my first machine with them, I took a chance. But they were solid sticks. On my latest build, they offered the best timings on my DDR2-800 (4-4-4-12)...so I went with them. They have been excellent. I bought these: Newegg.com - G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI-B
