Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with SP1

The other thing it just started to do is when I close the lid, the entire PC shuts itself down. The Geek Squad said that it could be a number of things from the motherboard, to the hard drive going bad to a number of other problems.

My question is, does anyone know what would be going on here? It sounds more like a hardware issue to me more than it does a software issue.

When you reinstalled, did you clean the HD first?
