i live out in the middle of nowhere. i have used this same mp3 player when i lived with my mom on my vista comp and it worked just fine. perfect. but yeah. it doesnt help that my gf has windows 7 to. so i know it doesnt work on 7 but vista it did.
That's strange that it works under Vista and not Windows 7, but I would rule out computer or USB issues if other devices work just fine on that port. Your other option would be to virtualize XP or Vista, and connect the drive to that OS.
What version of Windows 7 are you running?

We aren't talking about virtual drives. We're talking about Virtual Machines. Since you have Home Premium, XP Mode won't be an option, but the free VirtualBox is. You mentioned having previous copies of Vista, so you'll need one of those licenses.
