Win 7 Troubleshooter Reports amd64 instead of Intel I7

While troubleshooting, WIN 7 troubleshooting report came up with this information:

    COLLECTION INFORMATION

COMPUTER NAME: ASUSP6T (yes that's correct!)
Windows Version: 6.1 (Yes That's correct)
Architecture: amd64 (I am running an Intel I7 processor)
    Time:

I called Asus and spoke to their people. They were scratching their heads. I don't know if it's a bug within Win 7 or wha,t but I though it peculiar that the system reported that I am using an AM64.

Anyone can shed light on this? Please see the attached screen capture.

Have you try updating your bios? some bios includes enhancement of recognizing new CPU, newer bios updates allows newer CPUs to work with the board.

Welcome to Seven Forums wa4cbg. OMG! It's catching!

Kidding! The x64 arcitecture was invented by AMD, it is a true native 64 bit architecture, and Intel made a version that allowed 64 bit programs to run on x86, but it wasn't native 64 bit. So the "architecture" is indeed amd64, which has been called x64, even if your CPU is Intel :)
