It did not under XP so I would think it does not need it for windows7 either. I just log into the router and it has my printer set up and recognized.

Some thing I noticed is when I remove the HP5550 through the devise manager it reloads it automatically under "found new hardware". I need to over ride that some how and let my HP driver I down loaded install instead. I'll work on that and see what happens.

Thanks for the help
Alpha...... serveral people on an HP forum for printers said they got there 5550 deskjet wirelessly networked in windows 7 with by using the parallel version driver for a 990 deskjet. Weirdest thing I have heard in a long time, but surprisingly it did work.
Thanks for trying to help me out though,

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

The number of hoops you had to jump through to get it done reminds me of how I got my Canon Lide20 scanner working on Windows Seven x64 when Canon does not provide a x64 driver for it. I eventually resorted to loading it into Windows XP on Virtual PC.

I'm glad for you that you got your problem sorted out.
