    Toshiba Laptop Harddisk Question

My Toshiba laptop as been doing something strange lately... Sometimes when I turn it on after a hard reset it sits at the Toshiba splash screen (the screen where is says you can press F12 for boot options or F2 for setup)...

The first time it happened it wouldn't boot until I held the power button down for 10 seconds after removing all power including the battery.

Last night even that wouldn't work. So I yanked the hard drive and tried to boot again and finally got the "we can't find an operating system" message after it tried to boot via the network... Then when I popped the hard drive back in it booted perfectly the first time.

I'm wondering if my hard drive is about to fail or it this indicative of something else?

Any advice or insights would be appreciated!

    Details:
    Win7 Prof 32-bit
    4gb RAM
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T5870 @ 2ghz (not overclocked)
    Satellite Pro L300-EZ1523
Stock Toshiba Harddrive - Windows Explorer shows 232gb capacity, so I guess it's a 250gb size.

    Thanks in advance!

Can you post a picture of your Disk Management. Maybe there is something wrong with the partition designation.

There is a possibility that your hard drive connection was not making a real good connection. I had this one time but was able to solve like you did by removing the hard disk and reinstalling it. Other than that, it could be that your install of windows 7 somehow got infected with a boot virus, but if it is working properly now then I would not worry too much.

Just keep turning it off periodically and see if your symptons remain.

Have you had any problems since it did boot properly?
