    Cant find SSD

Alright so I have an RMA waiting but I'm going to try this before I send my SSD in and find out its fine.

Alright so I had my SSD working on this rig for 2 weeks when one night I got a no boot, no beep, no video condition. I took the entire rig apart trying to rule different parts out and finally realized when I unplugged the SSD everything worked fine so I was irritated and went ahead and reinstalled windows on my HDD.

Now I am trying to get the SSD working because if its fine I really don’t want to pay return S&H.

Right now my on chip SATA type is on IDE mode but I shut down put it on AHCI and unplugged the 2 HDD's. I tried to boot and still I'm not seeing my SSD anywhere but I am booting. I inserted the windows disk tried the restore and looking in the command prompt but still nothing.

I have tried pretty much every configuration in the BIOS and I have tried multiple SATA ports and cables. I did notice that when the SSD is plugged in my HDD activity light is always on not sure if that signifies anything or not.

This SSD was my primary drive before this all happened so windows should still be on it it's just a matter of recognizing my SSD.

Please any help would be great.

First, if the OS was installed on the SSD in IDE mode then keep the controller on IDE mode. If you installed the OS in AHCI, keep it AHCI. Changing modes will cause a whole new set of startup issues that you don't need to be dealing with right now.

While doing so, you might want to Reset BIOS Defaults, then make only the SATA mode change. Too many bios setting changes really muddies the water.

Do you have access to another computer that you can hook the SSD up to to see if the drive can be recognized and files can be accessed?
EDIT: When the computer is up and running on the HDD, can you plug in the SSD and access files?
