is 802.11n backward compatible with 802.11b/g

Hi all,
Have a question regarding routers and laptop wireless. I have an ASUS X52F-X2 Laptop with an integrated 802.11n Wireless LAN and Windows 7 Home Premium 64.

I also have a Linksys WRT54GL 802.11b/g Wireless broadband router up to 54Mbps/ Compatible with Open source DD-WRT (not pre-load).

My question:
Is the Laptop 802.11n Wireless LAN backward compatible with the Linksys 802.11b/g ?
Any assistance greatly appreciated.

If I type in or copy a file location in W7 (using back slashes) then try to paste it into a box in another application I get forward slashes and the application, whatever it is, cannot find that location. Eg. I type Z:\Graphics\Animals\Birds II\Lunch I get Z:/Graphics/Animals/Birds...

Which build was a step backward from the previous?
My question to all you out there is: which new build seemed to be a step backwards from the previous build and why? Poll included. I think 7057 was pretty lame for adding this new logon screen, but that's just UI and cosmetics, I think every build has had significant improvements on the...
