Windows 7: Multiple Optical Drives

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I don't use the external Sata port for anything atm, but it's not located with the others, it's at the rear with the USB plugs and that. The DVD drives, from what I can tell, are on the Marvell connector, which is right next to the Intel one, at the front of the motherboard. It's an Asus Sabertooth X58 if you wanna have a look, you'll see there's 8 Sata plugs, 6 in a black housing, 2 in a grey housing, my DVD drives are in the grey one

Windows 10 Education 64 bit

Sounds like the optical drives in Question may be on the RAID SATA ports. If so double check to make sure RAID is disabled in the BIOS and that the RAID ports can be used as regular SATA ports.

Main - Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-Bit; 2nd - Windows Server 2008 R2

My housemate has an ASUS P6T with the Marvel controller. As I recall, when I was setting it up for her I read somewhere that you couldn't run anything but a HDD off of it. Which drives are hooked to which controller?

@alphanumeric, the Marvell controller is set to IDE, with the option of AHCI, which didn't work either =[

profdlp, HDDs and blu ray are on Intel and DVDs are on Marvell

ISO CD can't see optical drives
Marvel controller and SATA mode are both set to IDE. The ISO firmware update was burned to two disks using different software - to be certain that they were good, and further verified for integrity. Two optical drives are installed - a DVD RW and a CD RW. Both were tried (with the ISO the...

AHCI and optical drives
I am completing a new build PC on a Gigabyte GA-H55MHUD2H board using SATA hdd. For the first time I have bought a SATA (rather than the common, legacy IDE) optical drive by Samsung model SH-S223 22x. I stumbled across a forum post warning against selecting AHCI because lock-ups and BSOD...

Optical drives have disappeared
My two optical drives have disappeared. I've searhed this and other forums for solutions and the ones that are Wizards from MS can't seem to find anything wrong. I'm pretty sure this has happened after a big string of Win 7 updates or some other software update I can't remember. Any thoughts other...
