The drivers for that box are here:
HP Compaq dc5100 Microtower PC - Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

You need to know the model of the network adapter used in your particular box (Broadcom, Intel, etc.). The drivers are for Windows XP, so you may need to install them in compatibility mode if they won't install regularly:
    Compatibility Mode

If your graphics are nVidia you could download and install the driver package for your model graphics adapter from nVidia's website. If it is Intel graphics then you may need to run that HP driver in compatibility also.

Have you installed W7 already? Very often the drivers you need will be found and either installed or offered to you in Windows Update for these older computers.

And of course you will get much better info if you tell us all the specs of the box you are working on.
