Thanks for all the input. I'm looking at 46C/63C on my system. That may be high because last night i had it on my lap with low circulation. I'll have to recheck when i put it on my desk on its elevated stand and see what it reads when performing.

Ugh guys,

Max temp is insanely processor dependent (Though generally based on die process size). Get your proc model number then go to the intel or amd website and LOOK UP the max operating temp, then keep it -10C from that for reliable operation.

Max temp may be 60C, 65 or 70. I.e. max temp on an e6600 is 60C. And yes older processors were 90C or higher. Relatively current GPUs frequently operate safely in the 90C range, I think the 8800GTX had like a 127C shutdown temp in the control panel!

Still comparing desktop to laptop CPU's. Here are the specs for the T7250 in mustangman16's laptop,

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7250 (2M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 800 MHz FSB) with SPEC Code(s) SLA3T, SLA49

Package Specifications Thermal Specification100C Package Size35mm x 35mm Die Size143 mm2 # of Transistors291 million Sockets SupportedPBGA479, PPGA47
says to me the 63C that he is seeing is fine.

P.S. you might want to look into something like this, - BELKIN CushTop (Silver) Model F8N044-SLV - Laptop Accessories

for when you have it in your lap. If interested, look around as I have seen them as low as $15.00 or less.
