Safe Dual Core CPU Temperature
I'm just wondering what a safe Dual Core CPU temp is for most laptops so I can always keep that in my head when checking coretemp gadget.
thanks

This is a matter of opionion, as different people will have different ideas as to what is considered safe. On my previous desktop I had an AMD Athlon x64 Dual Core, and my cooling system had it at around 45/57c (idle/load). At the time, that was acceptable to me.
Now, with my AMD Phenom 9600 Quad, even with the brutal summer temperatures we get here in South Africa, I've peaked at around 32/47c (idle/load).
What temperatures are you getting? (Both idle and loaded)
Here's my Dell M4400 laptop. I've seen go to 45c under load I'd get concerned at anything over 55c

I've run at full load ever single day for over a year at 55c+ and never ran into a problem. So I'd say your temps are just fine.
I run a program that does research for cancer so it crunches 24/7 at 100% load on all 4 cores. Temps have gotten ashigh as 60c on some hotter days but nothing to be to concerned about. I myself wouldnt let the temps go over 60c.
Safe operating for Core 2 notebook - 30 to 50c is safe - hot is 60c +
This is calculated by the Tjunction and Tcase diodes and differs with the core model & chipset model, but they differ by only a few degrees for most core 2 cores and chipsets so those numbers above will be safe for you.
njkid32 - 55+ is rather warm, even for quad cores
I remember my Macbook reaching 90+ degrees... On full load that is.
never had any problems.
My watercooled e6600 runs around 45 and 50 under load.
Of course that's overclocked. I guess I just got a bad processor.
Nice to see Chappy was one of the few respond to the OP's question. The rest, it doesn't matter what your temps are you have a desktop, not a laptop; which runs at higher temperatures to begin with.
