    @ unhappyuser
    People are here to help not to be critisized.

    It's unlikely to be an OS problem, so in all likelyhood it will be your printer setup or printer driver!

    1st Check there is colour ink in the cartridge.
    2nd Uninstall your driver for the printer then let windows find a driver for for it.
    3rd Check your settings on the printer GUI.

    If all the above have been checked then throw printer away!

    Despite your rather caustic remarks I thought I would not give up on this so went to the HP Forum and found this;

    It was not meant to be caustis. only wondered why my username elicited your response to it. any way,thank you very much for finding that on HP site. I also went there but did not find that posting Well done and thank you again. I shall just have to change the lp's over. I have abetter one on my "old" pc but the 920c was a spare i had , so i thought i would give it a try on the new one. oh well, you cant win them all!

    Thank again! Happy user now

    Thank for your reply As I said to Mitchell65. it was NOT meat to be a caustic remark, i only wondered why my choice of usewrname elicited that responce from mitchell65 in the first place. Thats all. and in answer to your points. changing the print cartride for a new one WAS the first thing I had done. i then ckecked the setting on the printer GUI all correct and i tried letting windows find a driver for it-it had downloaded a new one! I also tried downloading an "updated" driver from the HP support site but none of that worked. Althought the LPworked perfectly under win XP Prof. so now i will have to put the slower 920c on to my Win XP PC and take the faster one I have on that PC and swap it to the "new" pc. Anyway, thank you for your help.

    Well despite all the helpful hints and comments I still decided not to give up. I went To the HP technical support site. entered my printer model no Deskjet 920c and and wasm directed to that site . thereit was how to install a 920c into Win7 . it required me to download the HPinstall Wizard for Win7. after installing the wizard, it told me to uninstall the 920c, reboot win 7, connect the power to the Lp and then connect the usb cable. It installed the lp again. i then selected the Lp service page, "cleaned" the cartrides AGAIN and then when ity printed the test page EURIKA!!! it had printed in color. so now it is working perfectly in color, balck & white & grey Scale. Perhaps somebody should tell hp "helpdesk" maybe its not too late to inform that KATHY in that attachement 137089 that she need not buy another LP but that she was given DUFF ADvise! I mention all this so if anybody else has the same problem , maybe this will help ?

    Do you see the "edit" button?

    I often need to use it on my posts.

    There's also a spell checker.

    I'm glad that you were able to get the printer working. Thanks for posting back about it.

    I must come back here. So after all the posts to the contrary it was NOT a problem with Windows 7! That's what I thought in the first place as did others. So now perhaps you will see why I thought your user name was a knee jerk reaction. It's going to look very odd if you ever post a thread that praises Win 7, don't you think!
