    Mouse not working

I left for work this morning and my mouse was working fine, I shut off the comp before leaving. When I got home I booted up the computer and the mouse is not being recognized at the windows log on screen. I've swapped another mouse in and the same non responsive mouse occurs. When I go into bios the keyboard is recognized and I can navigate in there. However at the windows log on screen I can't use my keyboard to log on to windows.

So my question is two fold.

    1. How do I log on to windows 7 using only a keyboard?

    2. What would cause a working mouse to stop being recognized when the computer was off all day? Any help will be appreciated.

Edit: Nevermind about log on using only keyboard. Keyboard is not being recognized by windows 7 either at log on screen. However it is recognized in bios and selecting between safe mode / normal start up.

In the bios is the settings for the mouse in USB? Lets assume the mouse is a USB mouse.

    Update:

Both mouse and keyboard are working with Fedora running off of CD.

Any ideas on what would cause them to not work with windows? I'm confused by this as they were both working fine, computer was shut off, then they stopped working.

Try to boot into safe mode (F8 key is usually).Maybe you have some malware / virus that blocks keyboard and mouse.

Tried booting into safe mode and run into the same issue, I get to the log on screen and neither the keyboard or mouse respond so I can't get past the log on.
