    Windows 7 running on Netbooks

Hi all, I had a search but could not find anything on Win7 running on netbooks. I recently bought the Samsung N110 the N110 Mini-Notebook N110 - N series - notebook computers | SAMSUNG
and have to say I'm very impressed by it. It comes with xp sp3 installed but I had to put Win7 on and am impressed by the results. I installed build 7260 and stuck a 2gb stick of ram in and it runs very well. Boot up time of around 30 secs (quicker than my C2D 4GB system!), full aero etc. I have 2TB of media on my HTPC and have set up streaming over the internet which works very well (streamed 720p wmv file!!!). It's been quite a while since I've been impressed with a new bit of kit, but have to say this is the best purchase I have made in a long time. Driver support is only xp but vista drivers work well. Is anyone else running Win7 on a netbook? what is your experience?
Samsung have an app called 'easy resolution manager' which enables programs that require a 1024x768 resolution to run, unfortunately this app does not run under Win7 anyone know of a solution?
Also does anyone know the best gfx driver to use, it runs well with the win7 wddm driver but wanted to be sure there is not a better option.
Maybe this thread could become a resource for all things win7/netbook related.
    cheers all

I have a Compaq CQ60-211DX laptop and Win7 runs faster on that than it does my main E6600 Core2 desktop... I think it is because it recognizes it is a laptop and doesn;t load all the background drivers and utilities that it may for a desktop.

@robertoszwold yes I've tried that no dice.

@screwball, yes I think that's true as the installation size is considerably less

p.s have also just realised my nokia e71 can act as a modem! how cool!

I've just installed Windows 7 on my brand new Samsung NC10, but I have a few issues I hope you can help me with:

    1) Touchpad driver requires XP. It's no problem though, since it works without a driver. But configurations would be nice. Do I have any alternatives?

    2) WLAN driver. I assume it means "Wireless LAN". After running it my wireless stopped working. Uninstalling doesn't help. No biggie, I'll just reinstall Windows 7 and start over. Other solutions are welcome though.

    3) 'Connection Manager' is a piece of software for the built-in HSPA (3G) modem. I've installed it and upgraded firmware, but the program can't connect to the internet.

The software and drivers I'm talking about are of course the latest versions directly from Samsung's website.

Also, a lot of the software recommended for the netbook seem pretty useless (and some doesn't even work). Like the Battery Manager - Windows 7 has one already with 'time left' included. And I still haven't found the meaning of Magic KBD!

Have an Acer Aspire 150 Netbook and have been running Win7 builds for the past few months with no problems. As a matter of fact, it operates great

I just bought an Acer Aspire 751h 2 weeks ago and installed win7 - I am still tweaking and 'playing' with my new toy. So far i am very happy. The 11.6' screen looks great and I have not had any real speed issues - like you see in some of the forums - but maybe that's just my usage.

Which version of Win7 works best for a netbook (MSI Wind U100)?

    Thanks in advance.

I have a Samsung N150 and installed Win 7 on it after removing Windows 7 Starter , everything works more than fine with the exeption of the web camera, no way I can find the drivers for it. It says SCb-0340N. But not solution.
