ok ok lets get this right, its a external drive using usb connection and windows is not able to see it?
my windows 7 home premium cannot detect my cd

oh yea, i pluck it in cause i wanted to try if the problem got to do with the disc, but the external dvd/cd couldnt read my disc, but it can read other disc. but for the pc, it couldnt read any disc.

- reboot pc without it plugged in
- when pc rebooted and the desktop is running plug it in the pc
- look for promps in the notification area
- post any results
- open device manager
- post a screen shot of device manager

it wont if you have no drive connected
