HP Laserjet 1012 (x64) Drivers

I would be glad to email you the driver if someone could tell me how to do it. It was listed as one of the options for the HP 1015 along with the Microsoft version. I tried to Google Zenographics, Inc. (I spelled it wrong in my first post) and got a hit, but nothing about a HP Laserjet 1015 driver. Help might be forthcoming from Zenographics if you can find a way to contact them. Ollie

Found some that seem to work (with my system anyway)

Hello OllieOctopus and all the others that are having the issue with LJ1012 drivers.

I found some drivers that are working with my system. The link is provided below - I hope that does not break any rules.

The link is to the HP download site. The driver(s) is (are) referred to as: lj1010serieshb. I downloaded the Vista x64 version, unzipped it and installed. Works fine for the present.

Hope this helps others and thanks all for your thoughts and support.

"driver details" greyed out

Hi I followed the instructins below except "driver details" is also greyed out.
What should I do? (I downloaded the driver already)

I'm having the EXACT same problem. The problem with the vista drivers is that they are 'host based' so I'm assuming that it won't work for a networked printer. Problem is that there is no Win 7 support and no network drivers.

I'm stumped!

If you have a 1012 and are having issues with print speed, I found changing from dot4 to virtual USB printing support corrected it. Heres how to do that:

1. Go to Start, right click Computer and choose Manage
2. Go to Device Manager
3. Find 1284.4 dot4usb Printing Support
4. Right click it and choose Update Driver
5. Choose ‘Browse my computer for driver software.‘
6. Choose USB Virtual Printing Support
7. Follow the prompt, exit out of Device Manager
8. Go to Start>Devices and Printers
9. Right click HP 1012 HB, choose Printer Properties
10. Go to the Port Tab, find Virtual USB Printing Support (Not dot4) and check that.
11. Click Ok.

Congratulations! Your printer isn’t an agonizing experience anymore!!

NOTE: The users in my environment reported that the printer after a restart showed up uninstalled but continued to print fine, so meh. Guess it can’t be perfect.

Thanks Lorf! I've been looking for a solution for the slow printing issue for a while now.
Now that issue is fixed, I noticed prints come out darker compared with printing from XP. Has anyone noticed prints come out too dark?

I found this on the vista thread - modified it and it worked for my HP1012:

I am using 64-bit Vista Home Premium (SP1) and am printing on my HP
LaserJet 1012. No need to download anything from the web. Here's how I
did it:

(1) Use Add a printer to select "Add a local printer"
(2) Use existing port and select DOT4_001 (Generic IEEE 1284.4 printing
support)
(3) Select HP LaserJet 1015 Select HP Laserjet 2200 Series PCL5
(4) Click Next and click Finish.

Everything prints perfectly.

Does anyone know how to script batch cmd method to install this driver ? Time to time I have to
reinstall 3 of my computers hoping to find a easier way of installing this HP 1012 windows 7 64 driver.
