If Windows 7 cannot recognize your Ethernet card, then you will not be able to do anything until you find drivers for it.

Gods, that is a beast of an old machine - I salute you for trying W7 on that - you'll like it, though - especially if you were brave enough to try Vista on it before lol....

According to Documentation, there is not a NIC listed - is this an onboard NIC or one that you bought and installed? If it is the latter, you'll need to go to the manufacturer's website (obviously from another computer) and download the latest drivers (win 7 if they have them Vista if not).

Of course, Documentation shows how o basically troubleshoot your NIC, indicating that there is one (and thus probably onboard). So, you'll probably need to get drivers from Drivers & Downloads

The bad news - there are at least 2, if not 3 different types of NICs there (not counting the wireless ones) - the good news - we have a lot of those at the university I go to, and most of them have an Intel Pro/1000 - if so, then you should be able to find Vista drivers for that NIC family and you'll be good to go.

Surprisingly, though, that W7 didn't already have drivers for it - Have you looked in device manager to see if you have any issues?

How exactly are you connected, do you go wireless to the router that's connected to Verizon FIOS, or are you hard-wired to the FIOS router? Either way as John said you'll need a driver for the adapter, wired or wireless. How did you get the Win 7 image?

Obviously, the previous OS (XP, Vista, whatever) had a working NIC - so obtaining the W7 image was not the hard part.

It's after installation / upgrading that the problems have started.

Unless you mean official versus torrent / Usenet / other sources?

Nah, you can try a hardware utility like Everest (free trial) or else SIW (free, period) and see if it can figure out which NIC you have - else you'll have to reboot your computer and see if the BIOS loading page can give you a clue as to which NIC you have.

Thanks - it is a bit outdated, but then again, that is the last time that I was really into FPS games lol.

I like animated avatars - they shimmer and move. If I were not civic minded, it's have to be mini vid clips of Kate Beckinsale, though
