Do you have any virtual drives installed?

    Hi knk17forever,

Bear in mind that many devices, such as Phones, MP3 players and Mobile broadband dongles have "virtual CD drives" that they use to install their software. In fact, nearly every USB storage device that I have seen recently uses this method. Of course the above list is not exahaustive, but as you say it is on K, which is a relatively "low" letter, it suggests to me a USB device, as those are the ones that normally get bumped down the letter ranks.

Just as an example, here's my Disk Management screen. You can see that "E" is my actual DVD drive, whereas "G" is actually, despite what Windows says, a USB dongle that I use to connect to the internet.

Do you have any devices like that? Try looking in COmputer, it will probably give you a better idea of what K is.

You mentioned trying to use it with a game, but try it with other DVDs. If none work, then chances are that the drive is dead. If any work, then chances are that the DVDs that don't work are defective.
