Just a quick question about SSD wiring. There are 2 Crucial SSDs; one is a kit & about $15 more than the non-kit. The kit looks like a USB adaptor. Do SSDs wire like SATAs or are the power connections different & provided by the PSU?

The kit is "Data Transfer Kit: Cloning Software, USB to SATA cable". See the details tab.

Looks to me like you don't need the kit if you are doing a clean install and have your data backed up.

So I think you need the $255 product rather than $270.

I think the drive connections internally are ordinary SATA?

It looked to be a standard SATA but it was the power connector that looked a lot different. From what I've read, SSDs use less power than HDDs & need a different connection. New PSU probably has this.

SSDs use the same cables as HDDs, one SATA cable and one power cable.

You will need a 2.5" to 3.5" tray adapter, as the SSD is 2.5". Check the package contents list for this item.

I must have an older HDD. It uses a 4-pin for power. The new SSD is 15-pin, I think? I'm sure the new stuff will all be standard install.

BTW - SSDs can be formatted both FAT-32 & NTFS, right? Video needs NTFS as 1 hr = 13gb AVI.

A little searching on Google seems to indicate that both NTFS & FAT 32 are options.

Are you getting a 2.5 to 3.5 tray adapter as Dave 76 refers to a few posts above?

The things have no moving parts and I know some people have used their own mounting methods--Velcro, etc.

I didn't order them yet. Kind of wait & see if the Solo's bungie mounts work. I could use velcro, too.

Looks like the Solo case comes with an 5.25" to 3.5" adapter. Solo is looking to be a good suggestion of yours, ignatzatsonic.

Check if the SSD comes with the 2.5" to 3.5" adapter, most of them do, if not velcro works

ESO BETA Final Thoughts.
ESO Beta is over. Much better than last beta due to considerably less lag, but the build was actually buggier. Nothing game breaking, but it's obviously not the final build either. At any rate, it's awesome. Looking forward to launch and all that. PvP has kept my interest surprisingly well. ...
