I have a lot of downloaded music that I am headed toward finishing organizing them with folders for artists etc (method sound familiar?). One thing I have to say if the store bought cds are not being recoanized (some are showing up as cda files) what can I do there?
I note that another player was recommended VLC if I remember correctly. I know this is petty but I had that once and I did not like the icon. I am not a fan of orange, green, and yellow. The VLC icon if I recollect correctly is orange and white. Stop laughing I said I know it is petty.

You can use a program called CDex (not orange)it will copy the music off the CD convert it to mp3 and automatically look up the Artist/song names naming each track. Depending of course how it is set up.
You may also be interested in a program called mp3 gain this one sets all your mp3's to the same level (music loudness)........very handy!!

    Download | CDex

Look at me!! I sound like a salesman :) except they are freeware lol
As for VLC you install what you want. but you can almost certainly change the icon for one that is not so Orange Green or Yellow .... Tempted???
Lastly, yes you got me I laughed

I wonder if the program you mentioned will handle files that are not MPGs. I have not heard of that one. On the change the icon thing with VLC I have yet to find a program that I can figure out how to work in changing the icon???

VideoLAN - VLC - Features feel free to look
Right click on an icon select properties and you will see a little box at the bottom "Change Icon"

I remember doing that and that there were not many if at all icons, but I will check it out again. Do other programs that offer icons really work?

I don't think I was too clear in my last post. I was attempting to say if I went to choose to change the icon on VLC and there was not a choice then I could download a program to give me more choices on icons. I was wondering if there was a program that had some clear instructions on how to access / install the new icons.

I am using Media Player Classic now and still Autorun does not work. I think thus far it mostly works as far as playing files etc. I note the tracks on a cd are not id other than by track 1 etc.
