I got drive and glory be I actually got my husband to install it for me (don't get me started on that aspect). It is an ASUS DRW 248 1 ST a SCSI Cd Rom Device. What I noticed is that my system did not alert me that it recognized the drive but when I checked the device manager showed it as well as x2 (Explorer sub). The autoplay for cds / dvds does not seem to be working. I saw the very first time I tried to play a cd Winamp (player that I use) attempted to start but shut down. Subsequent attempts to play a cd have not elicited any response from Winamp. I am able to go in to x2 and manually play a cd. Upon checking I think I am understanding all drivers are up to date. Opinions????

Hi bobsscgirl, have a look at this tutorial for the autoplay function https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...e-autorun.html you may have to reinstall winamp use revouninstaller Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems to get rid of all traces of the software and reinstall , Hopefully all will then be OK

I will do so in a bit. In case I did not mention it before it is only the autoplay that does not work. Manually I am able to use winamp. Last night I had transferred stuff off of some dvds / cds to my external drive and the autoplay did not work ever. This morning I put in a dvd and up popped the what do you want to do with this cd / dvd prompt. That was new??
