Windows 7: Marvel not showing up in device man- storage controllers?

25 Apr 2011   #21

Thanks mike.

Id guess it shows in bios it does on the boot screen. As we know it is working. I will check out that other info you posted too- looks simple enough for me ha ha.. I do not feel like rebooting now. After I go to gaming and then stop I will reboot any way and can check it then.. Spy sweeper does not always care to start right after turn off and gaming and stop and turn all my security back on- and is no guaranty defender or any real time will work right with out rebooting. So I reboot after turn back on avast and defender and so spy sweeper has no probs and starts right during reboot. I always did same things in xp also- I feel more safe..

I just googled it and is no hits for exact probs- just general marvel talk how to install or other probs folks might have- so that is no help- I flipped through and read through all posts I could over 10 pages that had anything to do with marvel or device man etc. no help.

I do know security can hide things- drives etc and drive name or letter etc. A whole controller is another story tho. This new avast has sand box and all sorts of new stuff. I have a lot of it on too. I am just kicking out ideas like you guys are- which I am grateful for.

I am almost over it tho. Will read on link I posted and check out your info more give some things a try in info I gain etc. But I am not really worried about it any more- it works and system runs great other than minor simple w7 glitchy stuff.

Be nice if windows made or supported a good reg fix cleaner/ defrag and system optimizer program and might/should fix this silly stuff. Being they make this os and windows is well know to have reg problems.

Bios as with any it more adds mem support or said some cpu miro code but not needed if all runs well. If over clocking some folks change bios up and down to find out which gives best oc. But my cpu is supported with 1.3 and before so its all good.

I really think the probs lay with w7 not the mobo or my self even. Installing the sataIII hdd was a bite but can be so on any of these marvel controlled mobos and or if folks are adding ssd drives and was no instructions and the msi forums was no help either.

I had to research hdd probs and installing ssd drives and had to figure it out on my own. I had to turn on ahci support in the bios. And being my sataIII is my c drive I had to connect it to a normal sataII port install the os and then the marvel drivers turn off the system and then move the sataIII drive from the sataII port to my sata7 white port marvel sataIII port on the mobo and reboot- bamb all is good and running at sataIII speeds and it shows on the boot screen and at 6gigs. And from log on to the marvel tray shows it at 6gigs and working etc- I checked that yesterday- well day before now. It is all working its just not showing up in the storage controller section in device man.

My sataIII would not run at all on the marvel port if the drivers was not installed and I have the utility and or marvel tray installed only I disabled it with my spy sweeper it is not needed or running 24/7 or at boot up. But even if I turn it back on and reboot etc. marvel is not showing in the storage controllers.

I never installed the intel matrix drivers or manually. W7 updated it as needed and it only runs my e storage drive and has nothing to do with marvel. If I was going to run a raid on my sataII ports I would update the intel matrix maybe- but I see no need to or now any way. Also w7 installed a separate driver 1 each update for both of my wd hdd's- which again is nothing new or for newer wd drives any way. I would guess it might install some driver for seagates or what ever drives too.

I think it is a w7 and or reg bug.. Or maybe sp1 changed something how it registers such things or something- Or avast anti virus or spy sweeper could be hiding it- Avast had a program update a month or so ago- or when I got to it any way- I keep the virus database updated but might not always jump on program update. It is not impossible for security to hide such things to protect the system and the controller runs my c drive? I am not going to uninstall all that stuff just to see if anything changes either- ha ha..
When I was talking about the intel angle I was only referring to it as I found a similar utility that might need to be installed with the Marvel drivers for full functionality - it is called the Marvell SATAIII Management Utility. I know the intel controller is only for 6 SATA 3Gb/s (SATA1~6) ports and Raid :)

Thanks man.

I guess you can be right- It even says in the manual install drivers etc you feel you need not that I need them all. I can not understand how the matrix would affect the marvel or have anything to do with marvel not showing up in storage controllers and it was before..

You have tried very hard thanks a lot- but really I do not even care about it any more. Maybe if it catches on fire and blows up my house it will be best ha ha. I am not going to worry about it..

Thanks again..

Thanks again whest.

I have not gave up on it- just not pressed is all. I plan to try the info that other fella posted and or the info I found. Just I made my self look like an ass trying to help another guy and was feeling sorry for my self when I last posted. I am over it now tho..

I will get to this soon tho. I really am not worried about it- I more think I might make it worst. Man I would hate to have to reinstall my os and crap. It is stupid not showing like it should. It is all running fine tho..

You are a good man trying so hard- I am same way me self.. I go through spells tho and put off things for a few days sometimes and reading trying to get all my ducks in a row maybe. Or not feeling good what ever..

So do not sweat it man- I will get to it soon and I will post how I fixed it etc...

See ya..

Oh ya. Another reason I avoided installing matrix I read it will give ya fits polling the drives and eat up resources doing so- maybe even lag in games. It should be no probs and have nothing to do with my stupid prob either.

As said before- I do not really know it is a prob. Just I know when I built it the marvel was showing and is not now for some reason..

The old saying if it is not broken do not try and fix it- I do not know it is broken. Does seem odd tho.. ha ha but so am I ha ha.
