SD memory card not showing in my computer

hiya ppl,

I've installed a newlink 5 in 1 memory card reader yesterday (09/07/09) and im having a little trouble, the device is working as when i place an SD / mini SD card into the reader it shows in the devices & printers folder and also in Device manager however it doesn't show the removable drive in "my computer" and no autoplay (open folder to view files) option is shown..

Like i say the computer seems to be picking the reader up so could this be connected to another issue that has started occuring in the last week, whenever i log on i have to run taskmanager and manually launch explorer.exe to get my desktop / start bar to show?? i realise this in it's self should justify a re-install but as win7 cant be repaired without re-installing all the apps like xp could im prepared to just put up with it for the time being till the retail version arrives, and then hopefully i'll be able to do a simple upgrade..
