Does DianaD 74's notebook use an adapter to mount the drive?

I've only had a couple of notebook drives out, but I've seen adapters. It's not a big deal - you just swap the adapter onto the new drive - but it can make things a little perplexing.

Only my MPC MICRON T2200.
The others are all Compaq N6xxx series, and one HP nc8000 which don't use adapters as far as I can remember. I loaned them out all except for the MPC Micron T2200 which needs a new keyboard.... Try finding one of those used

I have swapped out some IDEs on older Compaqs, they have a HD carrier with several small screws that hold the HD in place . Fairly simple to do.

You mean the caddy?
The Compaq's I bought are easy because they fit snug even without putting any screws back in the HDD making swapping drives a breeze.

I'm a Dental Tech but because Ive been working with PC's since Win '95 my bosses have me to do all the PC maintenance. It would be great if they paid me more for it, but it doesn't bother me.

The only thing I intentionally stay away is from is securing the company network...I wont be blamed for that one.
I'm sure many of you know my reasons.

Plus, I get usually get first dibs of the older laptops for pennies on the $$$.
My problem is that I always wind up loaning them out or giving them to friends and of course when a friend, family member fat fingers something it's always my fault and my responsibility to get it up and running again.
I'm sure many of you reading this understand exactly what I'm talking about.
Loan it to friend, family member...... you still own it when it breaks down....pilot error or otherwise
Thank goodness for Images
Diana.

Actually bob, my current laptop is one I bought from a client (I do some side work from time to time... I love PC's) which has a SATA drive.

It's a beautiful machine (if you like the aesthetic aspect)
It's an HP DV6885SE Thrive (special edition) and it's beautiful to look at and it feels very nice to operate as well especially with Win 7.
I believe I have my specs listed but here's a pic or two of the machine.
It could use some more RAM but it suits me fine.
I love it

"Advanced Format" hard drives
I'm thinking of adding a WD 10EZEX 1TB hard drive to my system so I can eventually get rid of my two IDE drives - either they will eventually break down at some point (one is 11 years old) or my next mobo won't have an IDE port. This new WD drive has what's called "Advanced Format"....
