Uninstall the optical drives in Device Manager.
Power down the computer to OFF. Disconnect the optical drives power & data cables.
Power ON the computer for a full cycle, check to see that NO optical drives are shown in Device Manager. Power down the computer to OFF. Re-connect the power & data cables to the optical drives. Power ON the computer, making sure it is connected to the Internet so win7 Updates can check for the most current drivers. Then let's see if they work.

IT WORKED FOR ME, after spending almost 3 days trying to sort out my missing Optical Drive I came across your post, it took me about 10 minutes to carry out the process and hey presto IT WORKS.

PS: You should tell Microsoft, they could then put the fix on their support site instead opf waffling on about filters and auto fixes that do nothing

DVD Drive Not Detected
Greetings, I have recently built this rig (specs in drop-down). The DVD drive is a new component too and worked just fine when I installed the OS. Now it is not being detected by the computer. Any ideas? Thanks.
