    Hi there
Interesting read - I don't agree that Netbooks are a dwindling species.

I've hardly used a full size laptop in nearly a year now -- but I use the Netbook nearly all the time -- it's great for creating any sort of Power point presentation, EXCEl spreadsheets etc etc --all of which are exceedingly horrible if not downright impossible to do on a tablet.

I also LOATHE touch screens too so I certainly won't be in the smart phone or tablet market any time soon.

The netbook can plug into a decent size monitor allowing applications like Photoshop to be run decently when I'm connected to the remote server with the Photoshop CS5 application on it and by using Virtual CD / DVD software I can copy ISO files to the netbook and play DVD's too.

I HATE having my screen filled with 100's of those little tiny squares called "Apps" -- I prefer a totally UNCLUTTERED workspace, and I don't bother with any of the social networking sites and I HATE the whole idea of TWITTER.

Also a small laptop / netbook IS MUCH MUCH better if you use Instant messaging - that's why most Blackberries STILL have proper keyboards on them.

I never did like texting -- with Instant messaging I think Texting eventaully with its horrible abbreviations etc etc will be on its way out in the not too distant future. Instant messaging - a much better idea I'm sure will replace a lot of emailing too.

(Another advantage of instant messaging over texting is that it uses the Internet so you don't pay for nr of texts sent or characters submitted").

So although in some ways an old Dinosaur I do like modern technology when it actually offers me something useful -- Tablets to me are a step BACKWARDS.

    Cheers
