    Scanners

I have an Epson Perfection 2480 Photo which is a great scanner. Windows 7 does not support it and there are NO drivers for it. So I'm looking for a new scanner which is new enough to have Windows 7 drivers. In other words how can I get a scanner that came out after Windows 7 because I don't want a scanner that came out with Xp and then the manufacture came up with some crap Windows 7 drives. I've look for an hour on the Internet and came up empty. Anyone know of any good scanners that don't cost an arm and a legs that was made for Windows 7?

I have an Epson Perfection 4990 Photo scanner, which is also "discontinued", but at least there are 32-bit/64-bit Win7 drivers for it. I've got them installed on my own Win7 Pro x64 system.

I use SilverFast Ai from LaserSoft Imaging as my scanning software, rather than Epson's programs. LaserSoft also supports Win7 fully.

Not that I have any desire or need to replace my 4990, according to the Epson page my Perfection 4990 Photo scanner has been replaced by their V700 Photo scanner which is supported by Epson-provided Win7 drivers.

Looks like your 2480 is replaced by the V300 Photo scanner, which is supported by Epson-provided Win7 drivers.

Sure does look like this provides driver file 12204.exe for Win7 and the 2480.

Interestingly, this same source does provide the same 12818.exe driver file for Win7 that I've already got installed for my own 4990 Photo scanner, as the latest version.

Does indeed look there IS a Win7 driver for his 2480. The product page shows drivers for Vista, so maybe it's just a documentation issue on the web site and the Vista driver really can be used for Win7.

Just FYI, I have an Epson Perfection 2400 and there are Windows 7 x64 bit drivers for it.

Why no 2480 drivers I'll never know. Do you remember what the difference was between the 2480 and 2400? Maybe you could try those drivers???

    Let me know.

NO... there ARE Win7 drivers for the 2480. And its file name (12204.exe) appears to be different than the 12180.exe one for your 2400, and also different from 12181.exe for my 4990.

OK. Let me make this clearer..... NO Windows 7 64-bit drivers listed!

Like I said, you can try and see if the ones for the 2400 might work - though I'm not sure what the difference is between the 2480 and 2400.
