Problem with usb soundcard and exension chord

    hey people!

this is my first time making a forum thread and my native language ain't english
but i try to explain my problem as good as possible.

I have an asus mzn mx se plus which has 8 usb ports. (6 at the back and 2 at front) i use them alot for things like my mouse and wifi adapter.

i recently bought an Hercules gamessurround muse pocket xl LT3 Soundcard.
its an 5.1 high definition soundcard by usb and it works like a charm!
now becouse i want to listen music from the pc in my earphones while lying on my bed or sitting at my other desk doing homework or stuff. also i play the guitar and its a bit more pleasant for my parents to wear earphones. but i want to walk around freely so i need a longer cable. i bought an usb extension chord/cable (5m) i wanted to plug it in at the front becouse those two are both unused ( 1 is broken *pulls sad face* )anyway i plug my soundcard in that chord and i hear an sound. but its not recognized.. also the light that supposed to turn on blue also doesnt light up!.

    what am i doing wrong?

    Things i've tried:

    - differnt usb port. none of them work!

    - pull out all the other usb devices (doesnt work either)

    - putting the cable into my laptop (works but i need it to work on my pc for different reasons)(like guitar playing becouse software is to heavy for the notebook)

    - adding other devices to the cable (they all work)

    - searching the bios doesnt help either.

also i tested all the usb ports with the usb sound device without he extension chord, the all work but i realy need the long cable.

i dont know if you quite understand what i mean but i cant find an answer anywhere.

please help me i would be very gratefull!

cookies for the one solving my problem!:)

Hello Bramnokia, welcome to the forums
I have a similar problem with a card reader if I connect the USB cable to the PC and then the card reader to the cable it doesn't work, however if I connect the cable to the card reader and then plug it in to the PC the card reader is recognised Its not much of an answer but maybe it will work for you
The only other thing I can think of is to try another cable

    thanks for your reply pooch!

well becouse i couldnt find a similiar problem anywere on the net i tought it was a real rare problem but im glad you shared your problem so i know im not alone!
its realy weird. and its not that its a lack of power. becouse i can use more devices that need more power with no problem. and its not that the usb soundcard isnt compatible with an extention usb cable becouse i can use it on my laptop.

its realy weird. i hope they find an answer for us soon!

I think I may have found something go into the BIOS and make sure that USB HiSpeed is selected as full speed does not support cables up to 5 meters in length

    Then try going through this;
    General USB problems
After a USB device is installed and then removed Windows hides the driver this first part makes all hidden drivers visible.
    Remove all USB devices
Click on start orb, Type Advanced System settings in the search box and click to go there.
Click on Advanced tab, Click on Enviroment Variables.
Under the window System variables click on New.
Type " devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices" (without the ") as the variable name and type 1 as the value.
Click ok 3 times to close the windows
Click on start orb, Type Device Manager in the search box and click to go there.
Click on View, Click on Show hidden devices.
Now you can uninstall all old and unknown USB devices.
The infcache.1 file is used to store information about USB drivers, the information in this file may have become corrupted or may cause windows to load the wrong driver or cause a driver not found message to be generated.
Deleting this file will force windows to generate a new infcache.1 file
Right click on the start orb and select Windows Explorer,
Select Computer in the address bar and search for infcache.1
Right click on the file infcache.1 (if you have more instances of Windows installed only do this for infcache.1 C:\Windows\System32\Driver Store)
Click on properties, Click on security tab, Click on Edit, Click on Add
Type Administrators In the window with the blinking cursor, Click OK
Place a tick in the box under allow to the right of Full Control, Click Apply, Yes and OK
    Delete the infcache.1 file
Connect a USB device, but not the one you were having trouble with to make a new infcache .1
New Start the PC and try your device again.
