HI DJg--Ok what is next, looks like you are really up to a good challenge.

I was think since I never had a software disc for either of the DVD drives, maybe I should just get the Mod #'s of each and get the drivers for them, or is this waisted time and effort. Being I have never had to do this before, after going from the Beta to the RC and once in between for what ever. And this is just happening this time when it got dumped.

    Thanx...Gunny

You shouldn't need drivers, but I think there may be a conflict between the two drives - did you try using one only, then the other? And try booting a bootable DVD/CD from each?

I'd probably start using the IDE DVD only. Are your harddrives SATA? How many? Connected to which SATA ports? The SATA DVD is connected to which port?

Edit: OK, my to-do just called so I'll be out for a couple of hours, I'll check in then.

DJG-- Ok see you when you get back, I know how those honey-do's are.

Any way to answer your questions---Maxtor HD SATA Port 1
    Pioneer DVD SATA Port 0
Lite on DVD IDE not shown in the Bios.

MOBO has 6 SATA ports. I will try a couple of things for now. The Boot up thing and disconnecting one DVD drive to see what happens.

    Thanx...Gunny

I'm back from three hours on a MAC trying to help some friends ... my brain hurts . Win 7 is way better than Mac OS. Let me know how the one-dvd experiment goes :).

    DVD drivers

    Hi DJG

Well I chickened out, you might say. The more I thought about this the more I thought this is waisting too much time and use of all our brains. And being this is a Beta version still, so why question this so much, scratch this up to it being a Beta version. So I dumped it, if this had been the non Beta version that would have been a diff story, I would have fought it until it was solved, the only thing I had in mind with this was to solve it if it did happen on the non Beta version, I would have a leg up on it. I really thank you all for your time and effort. The new install and they show up fine.

So onward to a more serious problem, see if you can wrap your brains around this. I have two printers, both about 3/4 years old. They both work great, and I use them a lot. And as I said I have 2 computers, my XP computer and my Win 7RC computer. I am using KVM switch, connecting the 2. They are connected to the XP computer with USB. Now I would like to share them with the Win 7RC computer. That is where the problem starts, no matter what I do this will not happen. I have them set up to share on the XP comp. I have tried many many things like using Vista drivers, connecting them direct to the Win 7RC comp, etc. Nothing works. When I have them connected to the Win 7Rc comp they install and say they are ready to use but they don't work. They show up when you click on Devices and Printers, but when you click on something to print, nothing happens.

The printers are a Epson R380, and a HP 7660. The reason I am thinking this is a more serious problem is I think this will be a problem whether I am using a Beta or a bonified version.

Thanx...Gunny...Any more info needed just let me know. Or if you think I should start a new post with this.

Hi Gunny - I've been sucked in that build 7600 leak all day . Three comments:

    1. I don't think your drive problem is a beta problem but a configuration problem you will also have with the release version, but you can postpone until then.

    2. Yes, make the printer thing a separate thread, otherwise nobody will know from the thread title what's going on.

    3. I'm not familiar with a KVM switch - post a link maybe? But other than moving from one USP port / hub on one PC to a separate port / hub on another PC I don't think you can share simultaneously.

Ya you are right I will move this thread.

You are right I too think this is a computer problem not a Beta problem.

A KVM switch, (maybe you know it by another name) you use this when you have one Monitor and 2 computers so you can shift from one computer to the next one. All I have to do is hit the pause button on the keyboard 2 times and it goes from one computer to the other.

    Thanx....Gunny

    Hey Gunny
glad to see you moved to this thread. Yes its called a KVM switch, I have 8 computers and 1 Keyboard,Video, Mouse. Thats why its called KVM. Your keyboard hot key is which one?

Im assuming you still have the dvd problem. the OP was doing a good job of helping and we both have been stuck on the 7600 thread (nothing happening yet BTW).

Let me know how you are doing with that

    DVD driver

    Hi Zigzag

Ya I moved the post to this same section under "printer problem".

I use the "pause" button onmy keyboard. You can read my post a couple up from here I am no fooling around with the DVD problem any more, I just dumped my Win 7RC and reinstalled it, now I have both my DVD drives showing.

My real big problem is I cannot get my printers to work with my Win 7R computer, that is why I started a new post.

    Thanx....Gunny.... 8 computers WOW
