Also there MAY be more up to date drivers for the moboard at Nvidia.
Under Option2 you can search for mobo drivers. It will install an Active X and search the data base.

EDIT: I tried it again in IE, and it did display a page to install ActiveX, so I guess that they don't like Opera. Still, I'm a bit reluctant since they don't list Windows 7 as being supported.We're sorry, the NVIDIA Smart Scan does not support your system at this time.

That is what I got.
Those hard drives may be going, especially if he can't read the SMART info and SMART is enabled in the BIOS.
