Continous detection of Power Saving USB

All of a sudden, my sis's laptop got into a loop of continously detecting a Power Saving USB. The "sound" of detecting something being plugged into the laptop keeps ringing.

I checked under Devices and Printers and there's a Power Saving USB icon which keeps flashing on and off.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi Raynian. I guess the first question would be - do you have ant USB Devices plugged in? What happens when you unplug them? Failing that, you might the the steps below which work on Win XP but should also apply to Win 7.
  1. In Windows, click on Start >Control Panel (or Start >Settings >Control Panel).
  2. Double-click on System, then open the Hardware tab.
  3. Click Device Manager.
  4. Click the + at Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
  5. Right-click USB Root Hub and select Properties.
  6. Open the Power Management tab.
  7. Clear the checkmark from Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Repeat this procedure for the USB 2.0 Hub.
Let us know.

Nope nothing was plugged into the ports of the laptop .

Followed your instructions, the sound was less frequent, but occasiaonally after some time, it will sound again
