    lost use of all usb's

    hi all
ive got a right pain in the ass problem. i was reinstalling a driver to a usb freeview dongle when i lost use of all my usb's. i rebooted incase it was just a driver issue. im not that lucky.
next i switched which input the usb's where conected to and reset the cmos. rebooted and pc boots up fine but still no usb's. thing is tho that while in the bios they work. the problem is not helped by the fact that both my mouse and keyboard r usb.

    so plz folks any ideas????
any help is much apreciated, thanks in advance

Speculation, but perhaps the Windows drivers are corrupt. Have you tried a System Restore point pre-dating the issue?

Sounds like your issues extend beyond the USB problems. Perhaps someone who has experienced similar issues will respond.

Also, I encourage you to turn SR back on and also create regular system images via an imaging program such as Acronis True Image or the like. A free version is availble through Seagate's or WD's utilities, or you can use the highly recommended (and free) Macrium Reflect. Doing so could mean your system is back up and running in 20 mins. rather than days.

Sorry I couldn't have been of more use.

    Good luck.

no probs thought someone else might end with the same prob. (grand jury?)?? windows can be a right pain in the ass. second time ive had similar issues with drivers gettin currupt. it seems that if the driver is deleted windows will reinstall it when rebooted. but if its currupt then it doesnt get reinstalled.
