Bluetooth KB have to enter new passkey everytime

Ok, this getting a little old fast.

Symptom: Bluetooth Keyboard is seen by both Vista and Seven but will not work until I enter a new passkey in Bluetooth devices.

If I set a passkey in Vista for my bluetooth keyboard and then boot into 7, I have to set a passkey in 7 because they KB doesn't work.

Once I get the KB working in 7 and then boot back to Vista, the KB has stopped in Vista again requiring me to enter a new passkey.

    This is getting tedious.

    Any ideas?

    Yep. Tri-booting actually. Vista / 7 / Opensuse.

I just booted into 7 and surprise, surprise KB not working. I actually have to remove the device and re-discover it in 7.

Sounds like 7 is changing the Vista settings. Do you have to remove it in Vista too.

No, just assign a new passkey.

I have to be careful making changes in 7 as it does impact on Vista a fair bit.

Your could be right DA. Thinking about it, I believe it may be more of a hardware limitation.

I recall now that it did it to me with Ubuntu 8.10 as well. It's suddenly more noticeable now that I'm swapping between Vista and 7 more than usual.

Although it never did it to me with Ubuntu 7.10, 8.04 or opensuse 11 which i had on my old PC, although the KB, mouse and dongle are the same

The mouse has no issues since it requires no passkey. I guess I'm going to have to stick with my backup PS/2 KB after all

You could always try using 7 as your primary OS and stop switching so much.

    Hi!
I'm having a similar problem, win7 is my only os right now, but everytime I try to use the keyboard it asks me for "the" pairing code.
I can't remove the device, and it doesnt show on the add device list when I try to pair it again.
    Could somebody help me?

I am having a different problem. windows 7 is automatically installing the new device which is a bluetooth home stereo without giving me the option of enter a passkey. Windows says the device install correctly but the stereo says it didn't. On another laptop using vista it install, i enter the passkey of 0000 and it works perfectly.

    Any Ideas?
