AMD phenom II x6 1090t high temps

Hi I have a AMD phenom II x6 1090t, with a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2 cooler and the thermal compound is applied properly. I also have 5 chassis fans.

On idle I normally have temps of 30-38 and when I'm gaming (GTA IV, LFD, COD MW2, BLACK OPS etc) I only hit 50, but when I was playing GTA IV, I finished playing and checked my temps and core temp said I hit 112 Celsius, however I didn't hear the computer get noisy or anything. I was wondering if this is legit or just a false temp because I've heard a few bad things about core temp.

When I use prime95 and other tools I only hit like 50 D:

any help or advice would help me a great deal

It's not uncommon for third party monitoring software to not recognize current hardware. Does the board come with monitoring software? If so, what temps does it report? You can try HWMonitor, they're usually pretty good about being up to date: CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Keep in mind, it's never a good idea to run more than 1 temp monitor at a time. It could cause system instability.

According to the AMD site the maximum temperature should be 62c. I suspect there is an error in the software that is picking up the temp. I think the computer would have switched itself off long before it reached 112C.
