extending primary disk partition

my acer 5943 notebook came with the disk in 2 partitions, but as i was filling up the primary partition of the c drive fairly fast with video etc, I thought I could extend the drive to capture the free space.

However the extend volume option is not available(maybe because it is a 'striped' drive).

is it possible to extend the drive,if possible without having to delete all existing stuff on the primary drive? thanks

I attach a screen shot.

I shrinked my E: drive which happens to be the primary partition though Windows is not installed on it. And now when I try to extend the D: drive using the un-allocated space the "Extend volume" option is greyed out. The "Extend volume" option is greyed out even for C: drve. But works fine...

extending partition?
According to the help files the adjacent partition should allow me to be extended and absorb the partition next to it which is free space. See screenshot. Why does it not allow it?
