    WINDOWS couldnt start?

hey i just need some help, because my friend needs a help

by the way Every time i switch on the power button of her netbook it will just display the Picture of the brand which is ASUS and in the bottom is says "Press F2 to run Setup,Press TAB to open a BIOS POST..and now after i access the BIOS i press F9 to load its default because she said the kids might have played with the settings of the BIOS..and now i save it and restart and now the picture prompts and after seconds i thought it was fixed because it now switches to a black screen with a blinking " _ " at the upper left (just like a normal windows start up) but then after few seconds ..nothing happened it just leave a black screen and the blinking was not there anymore..any idea?

Then i restart it and open a POST then it prompts in the bottom:

Pri Master Hard Disk: S.M.A.R.T. status BAD, backup and restore
    F1 resume

was it a sign of a damage HDD? or any idea how can i fix it?

If its a bios problem, try resetting the bios settings to default and see if that helps.

It sounds possible it is either a hard drive failure or a ram issue. Take it to a repair shop for testing.

It does look like your hard drive may be the culprit so you need to get your computer checked out. Is it still under warranty? If so, any repair should be covered.
