Mouse acceleration turned off only for the mouse, not the touch pad

    Sorry for the long tittle.
Is it possible to turn the mouse acceleration on only when using the touchpad on my laptop and off when I'm using the mouse? I usually don't use the touchpad when the mouse is plugged in if that's any help. If nothing else, maybe a driver will do the trick?

The computer treats touch pads as mice in most instances.
I used to know how to create a shortcut that would toggle it, apparently that command no longer works in win 7.

I have an older (2007) Dell Vostro 1000 which has a listing in the Windows control Panel only for the touch pad. If not check the Dell site for your model for an application for it.

Yes, I have the Dell drivers for the touch pad and they let me change a lot of stuff specifically for the touch pad, but not the acceleration. I'll try to find some info on a toggle shortcut, as you mentioned Maguscreed.
Thanks for the answers guys. I'm still waiting to see if someone can think of something.

I was just repairing a Compaq laptop for a friend and in Control Panel/Mouse there were separate tabs to adjust the mouse and touch pad.

I also have a tab just for the touchpad. But the problem is that there isn't acceleration option in the touchpad tab :)

Well the only thing I can think of is that the option isn't available for acceleration for the touch pad.
It is on my old Dell laptop. Maybe manufacturers have decided its not needed now.

Yep, all sorts of other options but not this one. Maybe someone can recommend me other drivers I can try?

Maybe its time to contact Dell directly. They are helpful at times.
