    Parallel port print job error

    Hi all,

At work we installed 2 new desktop computers in a network with windows 7 so we had to update our Canon IR 2200 driver to make the printer work properly.

Sometimes when we want to print files the machine is printing nonsense (zdingbats on the upper side of the paper but only a few lines not the whole page) and we have to cancel the printing task on the printer because apparently once it starts it won't stop.

On the screen of the printer in the journal there is written:
document name: parallel port print job (instead of microsoft word, excel, ...)
username: / (instead of the name of our network)

Could someone tell me if this problem is due to a bug in the driver or is there something wrong with the connexion?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Greetings

    Kasper

I had a similar issue before one of the old printers a friend used at his car dealership for drafting contracts.
I was finally able to fix the problem by buying a usb to parallel cable.
Then it was just a matter of setting the print server to see it as usb and then everything handled fine.
That was Vista though. Knowing win 7 this might have something to do with power management.
Whatever machine is the print host I would make sure all it's power saving features were disabled and see if the problem resolves.
