    Hauppauge 1800 & Streaming

Well wasnt sure where to post this, since it is the Tuner card I am using.

I am trying to establish a connection to the tuner card so that I can stream live video from the tv to something like justin.tv, but the problem is that it just wont work.

I have tried installing Flash Media Encoder, and that works fine, with a webcam, but with the tuner card, all I get are "cant locate device". I keep trying different programs and keep looping and end up giving up everytime, then come back a few days later and try again.

I thought I read somewhere that this tuner wont work, but why not. I'm prolly confused right now and need to get away.

I have this tuner card - can you start at the beginning and tell me how you are trying to stream TV to another site? Also, you are aware that most cable companies will look at this as pirating, right?

ok what I have is the Tuner card 1800 WinTV with the remote etc. I installed the card in the Win7 x64 box, then I added the default software (CD), then after noticing that it wasnt working good, I went to hauppauge support and downloaded the most recent drivers, CD4.8a. After installing that I was able to install WMC and go thru that setup, which worked fine except the the set top box wouldnt sync with the MC remote, which sucks but oh well its mexican, lol

anyways, I have been trying for a while to get it to broadcast live, via Justin.tv but cant get anything to work. By "work" I mean I installed Flash Media Live Encoder and lined that up with justin.tv but every time I open the FME I get audio/video card not found.

I tried intalling a webcam and have no problem viewing a live feed from within justin.tv, I thought perhaps it could be the x64 bit, so I formatted a hard drive and installed the 32 bit version W7 7100 RC, and tried the same thing which resulted in the same problem, audio/video device not found in the FMLE.

I think I tried Virtual XP but can remember what that entailed, though I think it was the same, device not found.

Yeah I know its pirating but just trying to test it out first, as does alot of users I am sure.....who doesnt.

Even though the drivers are installed, you need to have the application (WMC or WinTV) actually running to grab something from the card - or else some other application that is aware of the card's existence.

You best bet is to find other streamers out there and figure out where they have support forums and see if anyone else is using your set up to do what you want to do - and how they are doing it.

Maybe you should look into VLC ?

Some time ago I used MediaPortal and through VLC I streamed live tv to my Nokia N95.
Was very nice, but due to not having 3G reception everywhere it was kind of useless.

I am sure with VLC you can make it work.

I bet they have a forum too, which would be the best place for you to get help, because it's not really Win7 related.

    Good luck.

    hmm,

Well I cant remember if I had WMC running while trying to capture from FMLE, I'll give it a shot. The WMC plays great, its just the FMLE that talks about the device cannot be found.

    Thanks
