    Quad core?

    I'm thinking about buying this: Newegg.com - AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
    to replace this that I have now: Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Black Edition Processor - Processors - Desktops

I could also get this combo if I buy the quad core: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
which would be good because right now I'm using the integrated ATI Radeon X1200

Think its worth it? Will it make that much of a difference? (I'm getting a video card anyway so my question is more for whether the processor is worth it)

    Hello tdk08.

I believe you now have an AM2 socket and the Quad requires an AM2+; the problem is that the AM2+ is not backward compatible.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

No, believe me, I made sure that my MB is compatible with the quad core. It has an AM2+.

    Howdy.

What a shame the mobo can use a Quad and whoever built it put a dual in it....

I'd do it if I were you. What PSU do you have in it?

Its a crappy 300 watt PSU so I would have to get a new one of those right? lol I guess with the quad core and new video card its pretty obvious

    Absolutely Sir.
At least a 450 watt whatever brand you choose supports for your AM2+ socket AMD dual core/quad core, and SLi.

Originally IBM but I switched out parts over time, there's not much left of the original parts except for the case.

I was just curious because HP is fond of the Athlons.
