Clicking/mouse problems, a possible IE issue?

For the past few days I have had a problem with clicking. It happens not only when I go to the autocomplete tablet on the explorer bar in IE, but when I'm clicking through iTunes. Sometimes I'll click on a song and it will start as though I double clicked it, and at other times I'll go through the song list, will click on a song, and it won't start until I double click it. I lowered the mouse clicking speed but it's still happening. In IE I'll go to click on the tablet to bring down the sites I've been to, and I'll have to click it a few times before the sites will come down in that drop menu-thing, and a few times before my favorites will be displayed.

What can I do about this problem? Can somebody help me fix it?

    A few thoughts:

First, try cleaning your mouse really well, particularly the bottom surface where contact is made with your mousepad.

To help isolate the problem, and rule out whether it's caused by IE or not, try downloading another browser (i.e. Firefox, Chrome, etc.) to see if the problem still occurs. If it does, you know the problem was not caused by IE. If it doesn't, then IE caused or contributed to the problem. (PS You can, of course, delete the 2nd browser when you're done, if you wish.)

What is the situation with your mouse driver? Is it current? Are there any new updates? Downloading the newest version may solve the problem too.
