    intel core 2 quad q6600 kentfield g0 overclock


    o over clock the 2.40ghz to 2.80ghz and the bus speed from 266mhz to 313mhz i did a stress test for an hour and the max temp was 61 for core 1 core 2 58 core 3 52 and core 4 52 so i w ant to know did i overclock successfully

    also i did not increase my voltage i tried to go to 3.0ghz but when i applyed it the computer froze so had to do a hard reboot so overclocking it to 2.8 ghz is this safe

    I believe this is in the wrong section.

    And you only stressed it for an hour, that's no indication of anything at all. You should do it for at least 8-12 hours. The temps are a bit high for 2.8 though. What HSF and thermal compound are you using?

    I said it was high, I never said it wasn't normal.

    i read all that you can get at least 3.0ghz with this cpu but i am happy with this 2.80ghz

    stock HSF and thermal counpound antrix also overclocking it from 2.40 it only gained 1 degree

    No. You can get far more than 3 out of a G0 revision Q6600, the only restrictions are your immediate hardware and your knowledge on overclocking. Of course not every G0 can do more than say, 3.2, but I've yet to hear of any G0 not being able to push beyond 3.

    Again, an hour-long stability test is not an indication of stability at all. Run it longer.

    so does that mean that 2.80ghz is safe used clockgen and buss speed 313


    also my ram is 256mhz 3gb

    Okay, I should be more patient...

    Once again, no, run it longer. 6-8, or 8-12 hours. If it fails it's not stable...also you're using Clockgen, I would never recommend overclocking from within Windows. The BIOS is where it's at but if that's too difficult to wade through then you should be fine with Clockgen.
